Pero sa kasalukuyan, may napapansin ang isa sa ating kapwa Pinoy tungkol sa pagkakaiba ni PNoy at Duterte in terms of how quick and gaano karami ang international aid na pumasok sa bansa kapag tayo ay nasa gitna ng isang trahedya o kalamidad, maliit man ito o malaki.
Ano kaya ang possible reasons nito?
Apples to Apples 3.
During Aquino’s term, whenever we experience any calamity – millions of dollars of aid immediately pour in. USAID, JICA, AECID, even the SDF and the Australian Navy sends a frigate or two.
After “Urduja”s wide swath of damage in two Regions in the Visayas, only P5.1 Million came from China. The rest of the world stood by and just looked.
Now, “Vinta” is wrecking Mindanao cities CDO, Davao and the rest with massive flooding – who is going to help?
It seems quarrelling with the UN, the EU, the US, Australia and with the rest of our historical friends is leading to us becoming a pariah state – a state no one wants to interact with because our leaders are onion skinned to international criticism.
As if losing EU’s €254 Million aid and the US Millenium Corporation’s $434 Million aid aren’t enough, which could have been earmarked to financing rehabilitation efforts – we are being ignored and abandoned even by private international aid agencies, making rehab almost impossible with our meager internal funds.
